Crusher Liners: How to Choose and When to Change

June 26, 2025

Crusher liners

What are crusher liners?

Crusher liners are wear-resistant protective components installed inside key crushing equipment such as cone crushers, jaw crushers, and impact crushers. They mainly protect core components, control crushing effects, and extend equipment life.

Common types of liners

Cone crusher liners: Concave & Mantle

Jaw crusher liners: Fixed Jaw Plate, Swing Jaw Plate

Impact crusher liners: Blow Bar, Impact Plate

When to change the crusher liner?

The liner needs to be changed when the following situations occur:

The wear thickness of the liner exceeds 30% of the original design (e.g. the original thickness is 50mm, and it is worn to less than 35mm).

The crusher liner is cracked, deformed or partially detached, affecting the crushing efficiency.

The product particle size becomes significantly coarser and adjusting the discharge port is ineffective.

How to choose the right liner for your crusher?

Determine the crusher model and OEM specifications

Check the crusher brand and model. (e.g. Sandvik CH660, Metso HP300, etc.).

Verify the part number in the OEM manual.

Confirm liner compatibility: If using non-OEM liners, confirm whether the dimensional tolerance of the third-party supplier meets the standard.

Determine the material type and liner material

Limestone, bluestone (soft material) recommend high manganese steel

Granite, basalt (hard and abrasive) recommend high chromium cast iron

Iron ore, copper ore (extremely hard) recommend titanium carbide composite

Wet clay, mudstone (sticky machine) recommend alloy steel liner with discharge chute

The harder the stone and the more sand it contains (such as quartz sand), the faster the liner will break, so you need to choose a more wear-resistant one (such as high chromium cast iron). Wet clay is easy to stick to the liner, so you can only choose a liner with grooves or clean it regularly.

Need a custom crusher liner? Just tell me:

1. What is the brand and model of your crusher?

2. What kind of stone is it mainly crushed? (such as granite, iron ore)

3. How often should the liner be replaced?

I will help you recommend the most cost-effective solution.
